Improved energy efficiency across mine and plant workshops by installing translucent daylight panels on eight buildings—boosting natural illumination and eliminating the need for daytime floodlighting entirely.

After auditing our client’s storage sheds and workshops, we identified two key issues:

  • Lighting could not be switched off during the day because illumination levels fell below recommended standards, creating safety and security risks.
  • The facilities were using 400W HPS and mercury‑vapour luminaires, which consume excessive energy and contribute to unnecessary operational costs.

StrangersEnergy conducted comprehensive research on workshop illumination standards in alignment with both Industrial Hygiene and Mine Safety requirements. A detailed illumination assessment was carried out during both daytime and nighttime to determine the specific lighting needs across all eight facilities. Based on these findings, StrangersEnergy specialists developed a cost‑effective solution that incorporates:

  • enhanced natural lighting during the day
  • elimination of redundant lighting
  • implementation of daylight‑based lighting controls and
  • the installation of energy‑efficient LED fixtures
