Developed a smart PLC load management that cuts peak demand while safeguarding critical operations in real timet.

Mines typically operate continuously, which limits their ability to reduce electrical load when maximum demand thresholds are at risk of being exceeded. While strategies such as peak shaving and load shifting can help manage demand, they often require operational adjustments that may not be feasible due to strict production targets and equipment dependencies. Shutting down productive equipment can significantly impact production, whereas failing to control maximum demand can result in substantial increases in energy costs.

We developed a PLC‑based solution for our mining clients that effectively addressed all these challenges.

  • The system is designed with intelligent logic capable of identifying idle circuits during periods of elevated maximum demand and automatically switching them off, or presenting operators with optional shutdown prompts for informed decision-making.
  • In addition, the program continuously evaluates circuit priority in real time, ensuring that production‑critical and safety‑related equipment is never compromised during load‑management activities.

As a result, load management became seamless, with no production disruptions and significantly improved control over maximum demand events.
